Giovanni M. Colella, MD

, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman

Giovanni M. Colella co-founded Castlight Health in 2008 with Todd Park and Bryan Roberts.

Before co-founding Castlight, Gio was founder, president, and CEO of RelayHealth (acquired by McKesson in 2006), a pioneering healthcare company that provides secure digital communications to connect doctors with their patients. Gio has also served in senior roles at Sapient and SAI, and was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

Before beginning his business career, Gio practiced medicine in Manhattan and is a board certified psychiatrist. He did his fellowship in public health at Columbia University and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Bryan Roberts, PhD

, Co-Founder, Partner, Venrock

Bryan Roberts, Ph.D., joined Venrock as a Kauffman Fellow in 1997. He is based in Venrock’s Palo Alto office and focuses on a broad range of health care investments. Bryan is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Castlight Health, Achaogen, (NASDAQ: AKAO) and Ironwood Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: IRWD) and as a director of Zeltiq Aesthetics (NASDAQ: ZLTQ) and Vitae Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: VTAE) and also serves on the Boards of several other private companies, including Ikaria, Intarcia, and PowerVision. Past investments include athenahealth (NASDAQ: ATHN), Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN), Sirna Therapeutics (acquired by Merck) and Xenoport (NASDAQ: XNPT). Bryan was named a Henry Crown Fellow by the Aspen Institute in 2006 and has been the highest-ranking health care investor on Forbes’ Midas List since 2008.

Immediately prior to joining Venrock, Bryan received his Ph.D. in Chemistry & Chemical Biology from Harvard University and received his B.A. from Dartmouth College. He also previously held positions in corporate finance at Kidder, Peabody & Co.

Ed Park

, Director

Ed Park served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of athenahealth from July 2010 until January 1, 2017, when he stepped down from role and joined the athenahealth Board of Directors. He served as the Chief Technology Officer from March 2007 to July 2010 and served as Chief Software Architect from 1998 to March 2007. Mr. Park has served on numerous industry groups (National Alliance for Health Information Technology, Certification Commission for Health Information Technology) and corporate boards (Healthpoint Services Pvt Ltd, Kyruus). Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Park was a consultant for Viant, Inc. Mr. Park obtained a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Harvard College in Computer Science.

David B. Singer

, Managing Director, MCL California, Inc., Maverick Capital

Mr. Singer is responsible for Maverick’s Private Investments globally. He joined Maverick in 2004 from Oscient Pharmaceutical Corporation, where he was Chairman of the Board. Mr. Singer is a founder and former CEO of three healthcare companies: Affymetrix, Inc., Corcept Therapeutics, Inc., and Genesoft Pharmaceuticals, Oscient’s predecessor. Mr. Singer currently serves on the boards of several private companies.

Mr. Singer received a B.A. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He was a Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and is currently a Sterling Fellow of Yale University, a director of College Track, and a Vice President of the San Francisco Health Commission.

Michael Eberhard

, President, Concur

Michael Eberhard joined Concur in 2003 and became President in November 2016. At Concur, he has held various roles including Executive Vice President and General Manager, Global Accounts; Executive Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific; and Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Business Development. Prior to joining Concur, Mr. Eberhard served as Vice President, Worldwide Sales at Xign; Vice President and General Manager, Western Region for Ariba; and Vice President and General Manager, Education & Government at PeopleSoft.

Mr. Eberhard also serves on the Board of Directors of multiple private companies, including StayNTouch, a privately held hotel management technology platform company.

David Ebersman

, CEO, Lyra Health

Mr. Ebersman is founder and CEO of Lyra Health, a health care technology company focused on behavioral health. Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Facebook, Inc. from 2009 through 2014. Prior to joining Facebook, Mr. Ebersman worked at Genentech, Inc. for fifteen years in various positions, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Product Operations, and Vice President, Product Development. Mr. Ebersman holds an A.B. in International Relations and Economics from Brown University and was selected as a Henry Crown Fellow in 2000.

Kenny Van Zant

, Director

Kenny Van Zant most recently was the Head of Business at Asana, creator of cloud-based SaaS project management tools, from March 2011 to October 2015. Prior to his role at Asana, he was the Senior Vice President, Chief Product Strategist at SolarWinds, where he led marketing and products. Mr. Van Zant has a degree in Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

John C. Doyle


John Doyle is the chief executive officer at Castlight. During 2016, John served as president and chief operating officer of Castlight. He joined the company in 2012 as its chief financial officer. John joined Castlight after more than 20 years primarily in the biotechnology industry where he had most recently been the chief operating officer at Achaogen, a publicly-held firm focused on the development of antibiotics. John holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and received his undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He is a member of the 2012 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute and serves on the Achaogen board of directors.

Derek Newell

, President

Derek Newell is responsible for research and development, sales and marketing, and all customer facing teams. Prior to Castlight Health, Derek was CEO of Jiff, Inc. For 20 years, Derek has been leading innovative health technology and service companies. He led the company that built the first FDA-approved internet connected medical device and grew it into the world’s largest remote patient monitoring company. Before that, at LifeMasters, he helped pioneer the first patient-centric disease management platform and built one of the largest disease management companies in the US. Derek holds graduate degrees in business and public health from UC Berkeley.

James Currier

, Managing Partner, NFX Guild

James has been creating online businesses for two decades. In addition to being the co-founder and original CEO of Jiff, he co-founded IronPearl, an analytics company acquired by PayPal. Before that, he co-founded WonderHill, the social gaming company that built the online game Dragons of Atlantis. James also founded, which was sold to for $100 million in 2004. James is currently a Managing Partner of NFX Guild, an early stage venture capital firm. A Princeton and Harvard B-School graduate, James is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
